The 7 most common mistakes made by growers in fertilisation(Part 2)

The 7 most common mistakes made by growers in fertilisation(Part 2)

With the fertilizer application season at its peak, it has become particularly important for farmers to use fertilizer reasonably. Here's a summary of 7 common mistakes made and advice on the right way to do them

4. Fertilising "all the same"

Weak trees a promotion to the end, the prosperous trees a control to the end. Some people apply fertilizer "equally", whether strong or weak trees, the amount of fertilizer is the same. The result is that the weak trees are not fed and remain weak, while the strong trees will become even stronger.

The correct approach is: in every orchard, there are strong trees, weak trees, moderate trees.

For the moderate trees, you can dig a trench on each side of a row of trees, it is a tree 2 side fertilization, between the plants do not dig a trench, no fertilization.

For the weak trees not only should fertiliser be applied between the rows, but also between the two trees, which means that fertiliser is applied to all sides of the weak tree. The weaker trees will not be weaker if they are fertilised more than the middle trees.

For the strong trees in the rows of each digging a trench, only organic fertilizer, not compound fertilizer, on the strong trees using this method, not only can reduce investment, the strong trees will soon be weak, because the strong trees are too strong roots, "compound fertilizer strength" "organic fertilizer strength small".

5. Fertilization site is not correct

Some people dig fertilizer ditches in the canopy, and some people dig only one ditch in the middle of two rows of trees to save time, and fertilizer ditches are too far from the tips of two rows of trees, which is also wrong. There are also people who do not dig ditches for autumn fertilisation, fertiliser is scattered on the ground and beaten once with a hand-held cart. This method of fertilisation is fast and saves labour, but it has its drawbacks, and there are also people who dig too narrow and too shallow fertilisation ditches, which are all wrong.

The correct place to apply fertiliser is: vertically below the crown tip, as this is the part that absorbs the most roots, and the closer to the main stem, the thicker the roots are and the less they absorb. Too far from the crown tip, there are no absorbing roots and the fertiliser will not catch. Spreading fertiliser on the surface and hitting the ground with a hand truck, and digging fertiliser trenches shallowly, will make the root system more and more shallow and not drought tolerant. Fertiliser ditches dug 1 mill wide, fertiliser application is too concentrated for fear of burning the roots and is not conducive to root extension.

6. Weak tree fertilization in the crown tip under

Weak trees are first of all weak roots, weak trees hardly grow new roots every year, weak trees root beard length is smaller than the crown tip, many people still dig fertilizer ditch in the crown tip below, because fertilizer ditch no roots, or years of old roots poor ability to absorb fertilizer, the same fertilization effect is not good. Weak trees must be weaned from their roots.

The correct way to fertilise a weak tree: if the main branch is 3 metres long, dig a trench 2 metres below the main pole, if there are no roots then dig in; if there are roots, shorten the cut back to the roots. Shorten the transport line of the roots, promote the wound to grow new roots, increase the absorption function of the roots, only the roots are prosperous, the tree can be prosperous, strong trees should first strengthen the roots.

7. Fixed part fertilization

Most people are in the row between the canopy vertical below the digging ditch fertilizer, fertilizer ditch is dug every year to fill, next year and in this part of the digging, for many years, but the middle of the two trees and other parts of the root can not eat fertilizer, in the "starvation" state, a tree every year only half of the tree's roots in the absorption of nutrients.

The right approach: you can take the strip fertilisation method, i.e. digging a trench between rows this year and digging a trench between plants next year; you can also take the radial fertilisation method, i.e. a tree with the main pole as the centre outwards, digging 4-6 trenches, shallow inside and deep outside. By adopting the above method of fertilisation, the roots in different places will be able to eat the fertiliser.
